They like the urban feel that‘s beginning to develop along the Corvallis riverfront, a district Nancy likens to "a little Portland." They also appreciate the sense of being in the midst of things that come with living downtown.
"We‘ve lived in cities before. We lived in Amsterdam, and we lived in London," Nancy said. "One of the things we like about living in the center of the community is being able to walk out the door and get a cup of coffee, go to a restaurant or grocery-shop without getting the car out of the garage."
It‘s all contributing to the kind of lively urban street life Irva Neyhart was looking for when she traded in her house near the Corvallis Country Club for a seventh-floor condo in the Renaissance. Although she never wanted to leave Corvallis, she had gone as far afield as Portland to find that downtown vibe, buying a series of lofts and condos in the Pearl District for weekend use.
Now, she says, she has all that in her own hometown.
"This is what I wanted," Neyhart said, admiring the view from her new digs. "I was waiting for something like this here."
